Question by Lee Ann C: My ringer has stopped working on my Iphone when I receive a phone call. Anyone know a simple fix?
The phone does vibrate for a call. Yes, the volume is turned up. Yes, all other sounds seem to work. Yes, I have tried resetting. Yes, I have made sure that the ringer is on. I’m stumped and don’t want to go back to factory settings or fight the crowds at the genius bar. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, sounds like you’ve checked the basics-
when you said that you’ve tried resetting, not sure if you meant that you actually cut the phone off for a couple of minutes, then cut back on to reset on network (if not, try that) or if you actually tried setting a different ringtone to see if that made a difference (and if not, then try that.)
If neither of those work, three more things you can try come to mind…
-some phones have a “mute” or “silence” button and if you hit that accidentally, even if your settings are on outdoor mode (loudest) -the ringer will be silent until you unmute it- not sure about the IPhone, but you might want to check for that – maybe in “tips and quick tricks” on menu if available, if not, try the att.com/wireless website-search phone and device support -that will give you a device tutorial option that may help.
- this may sound silly, and not likely since it is vibrating so would seem to be ringing, but worth a look-check to make sure you don’t have your call forwarding activated for all calls-should be active for busy or no answer only
-it is possible that the ringer setting needs to be adjusted by the carrier- assuming that’s AT&T, call customer service if none of the options above work, and ask them to check your ring time- this does not happen frequently, but if the settings are too short, it can result in them going straight to voice mail before you hear the ring or get the chance to answer. they can extend them slightly so the phone will ring longer.
Afraid it might be a problem with the phone itself based on info you gave, but these things are worth a try- good luck!
